A gripping Australian sci-fi mystery thriller, a comedic love story produced by Margot Robbie, and a hilarious fable by Poor Things director and Oscar nominee Yorgos Lanthimos are among the films screening in Randwick for the 2024 Sydney Film Festival.

Randwick City Mayor Philipa Veitch said: “Randwick City Council is proud to support the 71st Sydney Film Festival. We have a long-standing partnership with Sydney Film Festival, having supported the organisation and event since the first screening at the iconic Ritz Cinemas in 2017.

“Partnerships and events like the Sydney Film Festival enhance the arts and culture in Randwick City and help support local businesses, attracting hundreds of residents and visitors from greater Sydney.

“The fantastic array of documentaries and features showing at the Ritz Cinemas as part of this year’s Festival is another great reason to have a movie and dinner night with loved ones and friends at the Spot in Randwick,” Mayor Veitch said.

Some of the highlights of this year’s festival at the Ritz include My Old Ass, a story about a young woman who receives a visit from her future self; In Vitro, a sci-fi thriller set on a remote cattle farm and filmed on the Monaro Plains in NSW; and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kinds of Kindness on Wednesday 12 June, a triptych that explores three strange and subversive tales and features Emma Stone.

The 2024 Sydney Film Festival is on from Wednesday 5 June to Sunday 16 June. Thirty-nine films will be screened at the Ritz Cinemas.
