Coogee Sparkles New Year’s Eve fireworks event confirmed to go ahead in 2021

Randwick residents will be able to farewell the year in a celebratory manner after Randwick Council confirmed that the popular 9pm fireworks will proceed as planned on Friday 31 December 2021. The 20-minute fireworks display is scheduled for the family-friendly time of 9pm and will include roving entertainment and music throughout the afternoon and evening. “We’re so pleased that we can offer people the chance to end a challenging year on such a high note,” says Randwick Mayor Dylan Parker. “This is one of Coogee’s signature outdoor events. Bronte House Open Weekend – garden only!

Bronte House’s story begins in 1836 when William Mortimer Lewis, Colonial Architect, bought 42 acres of land at ‘Nelson Bay’ (the name given to the bay at Bronte Beach). He began building a house but when an economic depression hit in 1843, was forced to sell the property before its completion. Robert Lowe, an English barrister and later NSW parliamentarian bought the property as a ‘country residence’ and finished the house in 1845.
