National manga event to take over local QBD Books store this September

National retailer QBD Books is bringing its inaugural Mini-Con to Bondi, showcasing the booming ‘manga’ genre of books, comics and graphic novels, which has surged in popularity in the last five years. Mini-Con is a free event that draws inspiration from the popular Oz Comic-Con and Supanova conventions – which centre on manga, anime, cosplay, and video games – and aims to bring a convention feel to regional consumers, who may not always be able to access these predominantly city-based events. The Waverly Council, City of Sydney and Woollahra Council are organising a problem waste drop-off on recycle it Saturday Recycle a range of household items for free at problem waste drop-off events throughout the year. Problem wastes cannot be recycled through standard facilities and often require specific machines or processes to recycle them. The McKeon Street Plaza project 6-month trial was funded by the State Government’s Streets of Shared Spaces program. The trial ended on 31 March and Council at its meeting 28 March resolved to extend the project to allow for the finalization of consultation and the exploration of options for the space. For the duration of the project there was an onsite QR Code survey with 262 responses, that demonstrated strong community support for the Plaza to be made permanent with 90% of respondents believing the Plaza should be a permanent space. 7% said “No” and 3% not sure. A new synthetic sports field at Coral Sea Park in Maroubra is already proving popular with young footballers just days after fences came down on the 10-month-long Randwick City Council upgrade. Waverley Council is advising the community that the updated development application (DA) for the Bronte Surf Club and Community Facilities upgrade project has been formally submitted. The DA is now live to view on Council’s DA Tracker using reference number DA-455/2022 and will be assessed by the Sydney Eastern City Planning Panel [the approval authority].
