Construction begins to make McKeon Street Plaza permanent

Construction is underway at Maroubra Beach to transform a temporary public space into a new plaza providing a permanent space for people to gather and meet, Randwick Mayor Dylan Parker announced today. A section of McKeon Street was closed to cars in October 2022 to trial a temporary public space, supporting nearby businesses and activated with programmed activities such as farmer markets, live music and outdoor movie screenings. “We received overwhelming positive feedback throughout the trial and I’m very pleased we are now making the McKeon Street Plaza permanent, creating more space for people to gather, walk and play,” said…

The South Maroubra Ocean Swim is an annual event at Maroubra Beach. The South Maroubra Ocean Swim is organised by the South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club and is a vital part of the fund-raising activities of the Club, where entry fees contribute to the purchase of vital lifesaving equipment required by our volunteer Lifesavers.
