The task to find suitable child care, when the end of maternity leave is looming, makes many modern-day parents very anxious.
When it comes to child care, every parent wants to know their child will be safe, happy and given opportunities to learn and grow.
But finding the right child care can be difficult and at times confusing as there are many different types of services including long day care, preschool/kindergarten, family day care and outside school hours care services, and knowing what to look for and ask can feel like a guessing game.
To help parents, the government has launched a website called Starting Blocks, which is a website designed to support families to make the best choice for their child and family. You can search for services in your local area and find their quality ratings. You can learn about children’s developmental milestones, discover home activities to boost children’s learning and development and learn about different types of early childhood education and care.
We already know that quality education and care matters and the first few years of a child’s life are the most significant in terms of neurological development and educational growth.
Starting Blocks is brought to you by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). ACECQA is the national body overseeing the implementation of the National Quality Framework which has been developed to improve the standard of education and care in Australia.
You can find out more about StartingBlocks.gov.au when you pop in your postcode and get your child care search started.
