Eastern Suburbs Mums are being invited to join SeeBeyondBorders at their International Literacy Day event on September 7th to raise awareness and funds for children in Cambodia.  What do SeeBeyondBorders do?  We mentor and train teachers, introduce technology, work with local communities and run maths and literacy programs to keep children engaged and in school.  Across our programs for grades 1-3 students, we see an average increase from 37% to 72% in maths and literacy achievement standards.  We are urgently trying to reach new schools in Siem Reap Province, where quality education is needed most.  Did you know? National retailer QBD Books is bringing its inaugural Mini-Con to Bondi, showcasing the booming ‘manga’ genre of books, comics and graphic novels, which has surged in popularity in the last five years. See you at McKeon St Plaza

The McKeon Street Plaza project 6-month trial was funded by the State Government’s Streets of Shared Spaces program. The trial ended on 31 March and Council at its meeting 28 March resolved to extend the project to allow for the finalization of consultation and the exploration of options for the space. For the duration of the project there was an onsite QR Code survey with 262 responses, that demonstrated strong community support for the Plaza to be made permanent with 90% of respondents believing the Plaza should be a permanent space. 7% said “No” and 3% not sure.
