One need not be the next Picasso or Da Vinci to feel at home at Bondi’s home of creativity, Waverley Woollahra Art School. Open to artists of all ages, children as young as 6 to retirees, come to escape the humdrum of modern life and get in touch with their creativity.
With smiles on their faces as they enter their new found creative home, the student’s smiles grow wider as the hours progress and the trials and tribulations of life outside the walls of this old building melt away to make room for growth, ideas and inspiration.
Since 1968, Waverley Woollahra Art School (WWAS) has provided an extensive program of quality art classes, delivered by practising artists. The school is an independent, not-for-profit, cooperative with an impressive alumnus of emerging and prize-winning artists. It has grown into a much loved and highly regarded arts hub of Sydney’s eastern suburbs, offering a range of art courses, talks, workshops, prizes and exhibitions.
Courses are open to everyone. No previous experience or knowledge is required except where stated. Courses include painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture and printmaking. A popular school holiday program and after-school classes are also offered to children and teens.
WWAS regularly updates their schedule to meet the needs and demands of their talented students. New courses beginning in Term 3 2023 or Term 1 2024 include, screenprinting, traditional watercolour painting, charcoal drawing, mixed media, painting for teens, introduction to acrylic painting and Wednesday night ceramics.
Join this wonderful community of local artists who come together to escape life’s troubles and embrace their creative side each week.
