Lyndsey Bramble

Each week we meet a local mum to hear about her life in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Meet this week’s local mum Lyndsey who was born and bred in Sydney’s east is the owner of Mumma’s Little Helpers a business she started to help mum’s out.

Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east?

I’m Eastern Suburbs born and bred. I grew up in Rose Bay then in Kingsford where we had a family newsagency.

I went to St Catherine’s in Waverley from kindergarten and Kambala for my HSC, great school I didn’t do particular well though, I think I fall under the category of late bloomer!

I have lived in many places around Sydney and the world and Sydney’s East will always have my heart, Randwick is my favourite but Bondi Beach has a life time of memories from being a nipper to working in the Bondi Pavilion Theatre and heading to the Bondi Hotel after the show, before the show and probably because of the show sometimes.

How many children:

I have two toddler boys 4 year old and 2 1/2 year old. They are chalk and cheese in personality and interests really but the best of friends (most of the time). I am quietly concerned about their competitive streak toward each other and hope it doesn’t leak into their love lives when they are much much older!

Favourite Park:

Queens Park hands down. Huge area with great equipment, places to picnic and The Shed.

Favourite Beach:

Clovelly, all my favourite memories with my Mum as a kid are at the rocks there and I found it the less stressful beach to take 2 kids!

Favourite kid friendly cafe:

The Shed in Queens PArk, it’s a great place to get my boys to eat as they know if they finish their meal they get to play and the park is right there reminding them constantly.

Favourite Coffee Spot:

Rell’s Kitchen in Randwick, has a play zone too and the coffee and food is amazing.

Favourite night place:

My bed, and for an exciting night out, the left side of bed. Seriously, I’d love to mention a lovely hip place but I honestly if the sun is down then my boys and I are at home discussing the importance of teeth brushing and I really need to concentrate because they have some very convincing arguments sometimes.

Favourite Mother’s Group Location:

I never joined a mother’s group, but I have been blessed with some amazing mum friends and I loved walking around Centennial Park when my bubs where pram bound.

Favourite wet weather location:

Westfield Eastgardens play centre and now Hoyts as my boys are old enough to sit still and get taken away with the magic of movies. Of course we saw Zootopia the other day and my 4 yr old had to protect me from the scary bits!

Favourite Local Shop:

Toys R Us Moore Park Supa Centre, best visited without my boys in tow. I love playing with all toys!

Work or SAHM:

I love running my own business Mumma’s Little Helpers as I don’t feel the stress I think I would having to ‘go to work’. When the boys are sick and can’t go to daycare I don’t feel that stress and I’m really grateful for that. Plus I am proud to be creating something that I believed in and have seen it through, I feel like I’m living a life my children can look up to and learn from.

Motherly advice:

Do what you need to do to make your life easier. Motherhood is a hard ride no matter who your riding it with and the facts are we are all doing the best we can. Learn what causes you the most stress and find ways to make that easier, cut corners, create plans or buy a product that helps you!
