Hi! I’m Cathy and I’m an Eastern Suburbs Nurse, Midwife, Lactation Consultant and mother of three beautiful children. I love beach walks, good coffee and the company of friends. I decided to start my own company Milk & Mums Co. after working in the hospital environment for many years and feeling that the gap in support between the hospital and the home was just too great for parents. I wanted to make a difference to families wanting to thrive in this incredibly challenging period of transition. My mission is to make sure all families are supported through education and that they receive continuity of support and kindness to flourish.
Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east?
I’ve lived in the East for 15 years, ever since we decided to relocate back to Australia from Ireland to start our family.
Three words that describe what it’s like to live in the eastern suburbs?
I know it’s a cliche but it’s my favourite place. We have everything we’d ever need and want right at our fingertips. Oh, whoops! In three words – sublime, spectacular, home.
How many children?
Three. 15, 13 and 11 (going on 21!).
Favourite Park:
I love Goldstein Reserve in Coogee (although it wasn’t as great when I needed to go to a gated parks with my sons when they were younger).
Favourite Beach:
I love Maroubra and Bondi (especially in the winter because you can usually get a carpark!).
Favourite kid friendly cafe:
Café Mackenzie in Randwick to grab a takeaway and head to the amazing Newmarket playground.
Favourite Coffee Spot:
Stevie and Marli in Coogee as the coffee is amazing and the staff are all wonderful!
Favourite date night place:
I love Clove Lane in Clovelly or Louie in Coogee – great food, fabulous staff and gorgeous ambience.
Where in the east have you yet to explore and would like to?
I’d like to do more walks along our beautiful coastline.
Favourite Local Shop:
I love Humble Beginnings for gifts, they always wrap much nicer than I could ever do!
Favourite wet weather location:
Ritz Cinemas at The Spot, Randwick.
Favourite Local family Weekend Activity?
Watching my kids play ALL of the sports!
Work or SAHM?
Through my work at Milk & Mums Co. my goal is to support mothers and families in the successful transition to parenting. We have now built an amazing team of dynamic and experienced Lactation Consultants, Nurses and Midwives who aim to guide, educate and support women (and their partners) to make informed decisions as new parents.
Motherly advice?
Listen to your gut. Mums always know their babies best. Trust yourself and find your tribe.
