Help Grow a Greener Eastern Suburbs

From 9.30am to 11.30am, volunteers of all ages will help plant a variety of locally native trees and plants along the edge of the beautiful Cooper Park in Bellevue Hill.

The new plantings will help extend an important habitat corridor for small birds and other native wildlife, creating a healthier environment for local species to thrive.

No experience is needed, and everyone is welcome to get involved.

Everything You Need is Provided

Simply bring a hat, sunscreen, enclosed shoes and your enthusiasm.

Woollahra Council will provide:

  • Native trees and plants
  • Gardening gloves
  • Planting tools
  • A light snack after the planting session

Whether it’s your first time planting a tree or you’re a keen gardener, friendly staff will be on hand to help throughout the morning.

Kids Can Learn About Native Wildlife

After helping with the planting, children can take part in an interactive native wildlife program, where they’ll discover more about the animals that call the Eastern Suburbs home and why protecting their habitat is so important.

It’s a fun, hands-on way for children to learn about conservation while enjoying time outdoors.

Why It’s a Great Family Activity

National Tree Day is about much more than planting trees—it’s about creating memories together while teaching children the importance of caring for the environment.

Kids love getting their hands dirty, digging holes and planting something they can come back and watch grow over the years. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to step away from screens, enjoy the fresh air and spend quality time together in one of the Eastern Suburbs’ most beautiful parks.

With all equipment provided, a free wildlife activity for children and snacks after the planting session, it’s an easy, rewarding morning out for the whole family. Best of all, every tree planted helps create a greener, healthier community for future generations to enjoy.
