New staircase for South Coogee rockpool

Plans for a new staircase to the Ivo Rowe Rockpool, nestled along the Coastal, at 1R Bunya Parade at South Coogee, are now under way to improve safety and accessibility to the pool. The new staircase will replace the current concrete, rocky stairs and will be constructed of fibre reinforced polymer minimesh and stainless steel to protect it from the harsh coastal elements. The project will consist of three main stages: Design: Expected to be completed by July 2024. Procurement and fabrication: Up to two months. Swim safely at favourite Sydney spot this winter

As winter sun shines in Sydney’s skies after weeks of rainfall, beach-lovers can swim safely at one more beach in the Randwick area, with the local Council announcing new off-season patrols at Clovelly Beach. Randwick City Council professional Lifeguards will now patrol Clovelly Beach as well as Coogee and Maroubra beaches seven days a week, between sunrise and sunset. Alison Park playground has been upgraded to create a new playspace which caters for children of all ages and abilities. Matraville Youth & Cultural Hall is located on the corner of Knowles & Pozieres Avenue, adjacent to a large open space reserve. New pocket park at busy Randwick intersection opens to public

A new park at the intersection of Clovelly and Carrington roads is now open, providing the community in Randwick with a unique outdoor space to rest and gather. The pocket park features timber seats with sculptural structures on which vines will grow and cover to provide shade, new plants, and a multi-purpose deck. Four timed parking spaces on Clovelly Road, adjacent to the park, have also been added to ensure easy access to local businesses. The pocket park replaces a median island and slip lane. Council endorses Malabar site for new bike park

Randwick City’s first dedicated bike park catering for mountain bikes, BMX and stunt bikes as well as scooters will be built in Cromwell Park North in Malabar. Randwick Councillors considered three short-listed sites at their 30 April 2024 Council Meeting including a Matraville site on Botany Rd and a Chifley site in the Anzac Parade median strip. Councillors settled on the Malabar site due to the park’s large size, convenient location and access to parking.
