Sydney Lifeguards Take on a 24-Hour RUN-SWIM-RUN Challenge at Clovelly Beach

Our incredible local lifeguards are stepping up for an inspiring cause this February — and it’s happening right here in the Eastern Suburbs. On 27 February, Clovelly Beach will host the inaugural 24-Hour RUN-SWIM-RUN Challenge, as Lifeline Sydney & Sutherland joins forces with beach lifeguards from Randwick, Waverley and Sutherland Shire Councils. Together, they’ll push their physical and mental limits to raise vital funds for Suicide Prevention in our community. Clovelly Beach: A Family Favourite with a Story to Tell

Clovelly Beach is one of those special places that truly feels made for families. With its shallow shoreline, calm and protected waters, ocean pool and relaxed village feel, it’s a favourite for mums pushing prams, toddlers learning to splash and kids gaining confidence in the water. Unlike many Sydney beaches, Clovelly has no big waves, making it especially reassuring for parents with little ones. A Beach Loved Long Before Prams and Picnics Long before playgrounds and picnic rugs, the Clovelly area was used by Indigenous Australians for fishing and gathering food along the rocky shoreline. The naturally sheltered bay and…

All Randwick City beaches reopen for swimming in time for the weekend

Coogee, Clovelly, Maroubra, Malabar and Gordons Bay beaches will reopen to the public from Saturday 19 October 2024. The five beaches, located in the Randwick City Council Local Government Area, were closed to the public during the week after thousands of ball-shaped tar debris was found. Transport for NSW Maritime today issued the all-clear for beaches to reopen saying the ball-shaped debris is not highly toxic to humans. Early morning inspections conducted today by Council’s Environmental Health Officers identified small quantities of debris still being washed ashore, much less than first appeared on Tuesday. Randwick City Council has been in…
