Golden Ridge Animal Farm

Want a true farm experience for the kids that’s only an hour from the Eastern Suburbs? Milk cows, feed goats, cuddle ducklings and nurse lambs? You’ll find it all at Golden Ridge Animal Farm in Dural. We recently visited this 30-year-old family owned farm and boy did the kids have an Old McDonald brilliant time!

On arrival we grabbed a feed bucket and set out to the yards for a complete feeding frenzy. The goats, llamas, alpacas, cows, sheep and horses devoured the food from our hands much to the delight of the kids (maybe not the 2.5 years old who was glued to Dad’s leg). There is no shortage of feed or animals within this 2-hour period of immersive farm fun.

Next we headed back to the Barn to milk the cow. This was udderly fascinating for the kids and provided an insight into where their breakfast cereal milk
comes from.

The Barn experience continued with what can only described as a serious cuddling session. The Golden Ridge team brings tiny baby animals for kids to hold, pat and bottle feed. The rabbits and baby goats were the kid’s favourites by far. Warning – new family pet requests may be repeated 100’s of times during the car trip home.

To top off a wonderful morning – the pony rides with Digit made the girl’s day.

A variety of programs are available throughout the year including School Excursions, Group Bookings and Birthday Parties. And if you can’t make it Dural their Mobile Farm can come to you!

VERDICT: Little ones will want to become farmers it’s so much fun!
