Dinner time and cooking for kids is always a challenge, particularly at a time when parents are juggling remote work, office work and back to school.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I’m super organised and have meal prep sorted, but other times during busy weeks it all just seems too much. It’s hard to find quick meals for the kids that are healthy – I just don’t know where to start, and tend to avoid these anyway due to concerns about high salt content and lack of nutritional value.
We recently however started trialling Go! Kidz meals and were pleasantly surprised!Go! Kidz is a Sydney-based range of healthy ready-to-eat meals for kids created with children’s nutritionist Skye Swaney, formerly Senior Dietitian at Australia’s Healthy Kids Association.
All meals are high in nutrition, use natural ingredients and have high health star ratings. We also really liked how flexible the range is across different age groups. Classic cottage pie for 10+ through to fish nuggets for the ever-fussy toddler age group. The cottage pie and lasagne were favourites with my two (Primary School age) and Go! Kidz also offers dessert options. The sweet potato brownie warmed up was a huge it! They didn’t even know it was sweet potato.
All meals are cooked, snap frozen and packed in Sydney and you just order online and they deliver straight to your address the next day. Meals are also suitable for NSW school canteens and are available on the NSW Health Healthy Food Finder website.Go! Kidz clearly cares about the environment; all packing is 100% compostable, recyclable and biodegradable.
Every meal is quick to prepare and loaded with vegetables. We were pleased with the low salt content and despite the meals being quick to heat up, they’re really high in nutritional value.
