Motherhood is often described as a joyful and magical time, but for many new mums it also comes with moments of overwhelm, worry, and unexpected thoughts that can feel unsettling or hard to talk about. In fact, almost 100% of mothers experience vivid, sometimes frightening thoughts about something happening to their baby. They might picture the pram rolling away or worry about accidentally hurting their child. These kinds of thoughts often appear suddenly and can feel incredibly distressing.
