Move, Dance, Jump & Learn: 22 school holiday workshops to keep the kids entertained, ft. Zindzi & the Zillionaires, The Wiggles, K-pop dance workshops, kids yoga and more!

School’s out! This Autumn school holidays, Darling Harbour is hosting a range of free events designed to get the kids active and out of the house. From epic K-Pop workshops and The Wiggles Groove Tour, to a school (holiday) disco, headlined by Zindzi & the Zillionaires, check out the line up of unmissable events for kids of all ages and abilities this school break.

KIDS BREAK FREE AT DARLING HARBOUR

Known as Sydney’s hub of family fun, Darling Harbour’s school holiday program is jam-packed full of free activities, workshops, events and parties to get kids off the couch and moving in this vibrant harbourside precinct.

From Saturday 13 April to Wednesday 17 April, Darling Harbour will host Move, Groove, Darling – an entirely free five-day festival of movement, designed to get endorphins flowing. No bookings are needed, just bring the family and the festival will take care of the rest. Kicking off each morning will be mindfulness workshops like the Synergy Workshop and Kids Yoga and Drumming Workshop, designed to help kids connect to their bodies and find their focus before an afternoon of moving and grooving. Next on the line up, kids can channel their inner 80s dancer at Awesome Aerobics with RetroSweat, and hula hooper during Looped De Loop. After lunch, a range of fun and vibrant dance workshops will take the stage, including Everybody Can Dance, The Dance Jam, Beats & Body Percussion led by performing artist Hilton Denis, and Learn to K-Pop with dance director Mitch Yee, led by experienced dance instructors. End the first night of the festival with Darling Harbour’s very own School (Holiday) Disco. DJ Kid Kenobi along with Play School presenter, actor and musician Zindzi Okenyo & her fluffy friends The Zillionaires will host will host a family friendly RNB party, featuring upbeat songs of friendship, confidence, joy and positivity all set to a head bopping mix of RnB, Pop, Hip Hop and Rap – it’s the perfect end to a family fun day (especially for parents who secretly love a good 90s jam). For any parents who are keen to get in on the grooving, Darling Harbour will host a Parents Dance Competition where mum and dad can show their little ones exactly how they ruled the year 6 dancefloor, there are prizes for the best dancers too!

The holiday fun doesn’t stop there! Darling Harbour will also see new events like Parkoursome take over the precinct, in addition to evergreen activities like Beat Breakdown, Kids Yoga, and Rhythm N Bubs. The world’s most popular children’s entertainment, The Wiggles will also be bringing their renowned Wiggle Groove Tour to Darling Harbour, promising an unforgettable extravaganza of music, laughter, and learning. The precinct’s resident icons are also offering special school holidays activities, including Chinese Paper Cutting in the tranquil Chinese Garden of Friendship, Ocean Superheroes at the Australian National Maritime Museum, and Haunted Habitats at Sydney Wildlife Zoo and SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium.

Darling Harbour’s iconic Children’s Playground will also be the site of an  exhilarating Parkoursome showcase – watch on as Alexander Robinson from KongQuest performs a series of impressive tricks and flips, while the connecting walkway from Cockle Bay to Darling Quarter, will see retro roller skaters parading up and down the boulevard, complete with a range of giveaway prizes and vouchers that will be handed out to visitors!
