Hi, my name is Tara Scully-Power and I am a mum to three boys under 4. The boys keep me pretty busy, but in my spare time I work on our two family businesses: ThreadX and Bright Build Constructions.
I have recently opened a mid-high end consignment boutique in Bellevue Hill called ThreadX. I have a passion for both fashion and the planet. I wanted to create a space where other like-minded people can access beautiful pieces without the price tag. At ThreadX, the aim is to give back to the community sustainably, by giving preloved fashion a second home.
Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east?
Since university days, the east has always been home. From Bondi to Rosebay and now my family and I live in Clovelly.
Three words that describe what it’s like to live in the eastern suburbs?
When I think of what it is like living in the east, the first three words that come to mind are: beautiful, coastal, and eventful
How many children?
We have three beautiful young boys that keep us on our toes (Jett 4, Cooper 2 and River 1)
Favourite Park:
Inglis Park in Randwick – not only is it fun for the boys but I get to test out my climbing skills as well.
Favourite Beach:
There is no competition here, Clovelly is the best beach in the East.
Favourite kid friendly cafe:
Blair St Dairy Bondi – the staff are always going out of their way to help and kids breakfast are served in record time! It’s always our go to.
Favourite Coffee Spot:
Tucker – Bellevue Hill and Randwick – best coffee and always served with a smile.
Favourite date night place:
Italian is always a great date night and we can’t go past Totti’s Bondi – it always delivers a great night and that Tiramisu to finish the night is perfect.
Where in the east have you yet to explore and would like to?
I would really love to explore all the amazing sea life at Gordon’s Bay. I always hear so many locals talking about the great snorkelling. Might be time to get a snorkel and explore more of our backyard.
What would you like to see improve in the eastern suburbs?
The morning and afternoon school run traffic – it’s crazy.
Favourite Local Shop:
Moxhe Fine Pastries in Bronte. You have to try their croissant.
Favourite wet weather location:
Gertrude and Alice. The perfect place to tuck in out of the rain.
Favourite Local family Weekend Activity?
Camp cove – sandcastles, orange juice and a walk to the lighthouse.
Work or SAHM?
Work for two family businesses.
Motherly advice?
The days can be long but the years are short – cherish the moments you spend together.
