Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east:
I’ve lived in the eastern suburbs for almost 7 years – Rose Bay and Bondi Junction
How many children:
2 girls
Favourite Park:
Centennial park- We love this park because it has so many different things for us to do. The girls love the bike track, feeding the ducks and fish, they have played kickeroos there and we love the wild play section. We can spend a whole day exploring there
Favourite Beach:
Clovelly- Not only is this a beautiful spot to spend your time but it is kid friendly. My girls love swimming, building sandcastles and exploring the rock pools.
Favourite kid friendly cafe:
Coogee Pavilion- Great when it is raining, and it is the perfect lunch spot for a sunny day before heading to the beach. It gives me an opportunity to have a chat with a friend or catch up on emails over a coffee while the girls play.
Favourite Coffee Spot:
The Health Emporium on Bondi Road- Great coffees, smoothies and food. The staff are always lovely and sometimes you can pick up some great snacks and organic produce.
Favourite date night place:
Sushi Train Bondi Junction- My husband and I love this place. Staff are so friendly and always make you feel welcome. The food is so delicious and can be made fresh right in front of you.
Favourite Local Day Out Activity:
Anything outdoors- my girls love the beach and Centennial Park. We love being able to get out of the house at least once a day and we are so lucky to have these places so close to us.
Favourite Local Shop:
Westfield Bondi Junction- it has it all. I love that I can park close and get everything in one place. It also has a children’s play area so I can usually bribe the kids to be on their best behaviour while shopping so they can get a play at the end.
Favourite wet weather location:
Nubo or Sky Zone in Alexandria – both places are such a great way to entertain and tire my kids out on a rainy day.
Nubo changes their activities up regularly and I love that they add an element of learn while you play. Sky zone is just good old-fashioned jumping which my kids and I love (bit harder after having two babies haha) and then they crash as soon as we get home.
Describe an ideal day in Sydney’s eastern suburbs for you?
Beach and swimming. Any chance we get to be out and about we take!
Armed with lunches, snacks, change of clothes and the sun shade (a life saver for a sleep on the beach for my little one) we make the most of the beautiful weather with no need to rush back for nap time.
What area of the east have you yet to explore much but would like to?
Maroubra- we recently ventured out that way with my mother’s group and we had such an awesome day.
The park was fenced and perfect for kids of all ages. They also have a skate park, the kids loved watching but also had lots of fun going around it on their bikes and scooters.
We had lunch right on the beach at the Pavilion beachfront and the kids enjoyed plenty of space to run around.
It wasn’t a very busy beach, there was so much space. Parking and toilets were all close by and easy to get to when trying to juggle two kids and all their things. I would love to explore more of what Maroubra has to offer.
Work or SAHM:
I’m juggling both at the moment. I work as a registered nurse one day a week at St Vincent’s Public and on other days I juggle In2thewild and my girls. In2thewild are off the grid tiny houses at select private locations 2-3 hours drive from Sydney, Wollongong and Canberra, they sleep 2-4 people and each location provides a unique experience.
Motherly advice :
As mothers we have so much pressure put on us to do what others dictate is right. I think we should do whatever works for our babies. We should be lifting each other up and supporting all mums even if it’s not what you would have chosen to do for your own children. Being a mum is tough but having a supportive tribe/community around you makes those challenging days just that little bit easier.
