Mondays Local Mum Jessica Youett

Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east:

I’m a born and bred eastern suburbs mum. I have lived in the eastern suburbs my whole life, anywhere along the coast from Rose Bay and Bondi to Maroubra beach.

How many children:

I have two charismatic boys, Brody aged 1 and Jayden aged 3

Favourite Park:

My local does the job. Bangor park is sweet and safe. Love the slides and the fence!

Favourite Beach:

Our go to beach is Maroubra beach North end on a lucky day with many rock pools. My solo beach option is Clovelly as more manageable with my water babies

Favourite kid friendly cafe:

Homestead at centennial, early lunch, the bubs play on the lawn right in front of us

Favourite Coffee Spot:

The Bay Bakehouse, great for takeaways and a stroll to play in the sand

Favourite date night place:

Sugar Cane in Coogee for tasty food and cocktails followed by a movie at the Randwick Ritz

Favourite Local Day Out Activity:

Catching a ferry from Rose Bay to Watsons Bay for fish n chips

Favourite Local Shop:

Spending some cash in Seed and Harris Farm at Randwick Royal Shopping Centre

Favourite wet weather location:

Skyzone Alexandria little leapers sessions to jump out the rainy day energy

Describe an ideal day in Sydney’s eastern suburbs for you?

A sunny Sunday, quick coffee and head to the beach for a swim, looooong day nap then early dinner out at one of our locals

What area of the east have you yet to explore much but would like to?

I would love to take the boys on more trips to the harbor beaches like I did growing up, Neilson and Parsley Bay are on the list

Work or SAHM:

I have been on extended maternity leave and will return to work in the new year. I’m in my element as a mum but looking forward to figuring out a work life balance.

Motherly advice:

Get your mum toolbox ready. Gather all the tools ‘advice’ from other mums and store it wisely till the day you either need to use it for your own team or pass it on accordingly.
