Hi Mums, my name is Caroline. I am originally from New Zealand but have now lived half of my life abroad, settling finally in the beautiful Eastern Suburbs of Sydney 6 years ago. I live in Double Bay with my husband and my 1 year old daughter. As well as our two Labrador’s and two Ragdoll cats. I own and founded Mummy’s Whispers, an agency specialising in postnatal and newborn care. This came after years and years of travelling the world as a Maternity Nurse looking after newborns within homes and many jobs 24 hours / 6 days a week. It would be safe to say I have seen many different types of families and dynamics. We are very much a team vibe and I am hugely fortunate to be surrounded by 45 amazing, highly skilled women in our books whom I know all personally. They bring so much life and experience to the company but most of all are there to help Mums just like you! I very much still work in the business myself, as well as running the busy administrative side now.

I guess you could say babies are my passion but outside of this I love spending time with my family and friends and with all that the Eastern Suburbs offers! My husband was born in the east but is half Italian so we are always up for an Italian restaurant. Otherwise you will likely see me at Steyne Park playground or little Double Bay beach with my daughter and dogs. I love that we can basically walk anywhere surrounding; to service our little life and aren’t always confined to cars and driving.

Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east?

I have lived in the Sydney Eastern Suburbs since permanently locating to Sydney from London, 6 years ago. We have just recently moved down the road to Double Bay from a few years in Darling Point.

Three words that describe what it’s like to live in the eastern suburbs?

Busy, community, family.

How many children?

I have one daughter called Heather Grace.

Favourite Park? Centennial Park.

It always reminds me of Battersea Park in London and is so central.

Favourite Beach?

We call it the Secret Beach! It is actually called Kutti Beach, with a tiny little stairway access via a sailing club. Vaucluse / Watson’s Bay Area. We love taking the dogs there as they can go off leash.

Favourite kids friendly cafe?

We frequent Indigo in Double bay because my daughter is a proper lunch a lot and happy to sit in a high chair grazing and people watching outside!

Favourite Coffee Spot?

I have a few… Room 10 in Potts Pott, Ritchies in Darling Point, Cafe Parterre in Woollahra and Indigo and Michael’s in Double Bay.

Favourite date night place?

Arte Di Bianca (the best gluten free pizzas and love how the tables spill onto the footpath) or Sake in Double Bay. We also love Buon Ricordo in Darlinghurst.

Where in the east have you yet to explore and would like to go?

I want to explore more of the Woollahra restaurants and shops. It’s so quaint and I don’t go up there enough.

What would you like to see improve in the eastern suburbs?

More child and pram friendly cafes! Prams are a nuisance but we still need coffee. I really struggled locally when my little girl was a newborn unless she was in the carrier.

Favourite Local Shop?

Now I’m a mum – Stylerunner. Best shoes and great basics.

Favourite wet weather location?

We normally head to Woollahra Library or Bondi Junction Westfield but also are just as happy to hang out at home and watch a movie.

Favourite Local family Weekend Activity?

We go every Saturday morning without fail to the Potts Point Markets to buy some slices of Birgitta’s cakes with coffee and purchase fresh flowers for the house for the week. It is also pram and dog friendly for our two labradors!

Work or SAHM?

Both. Very lucky to be able to divide my time between doing both. I am fortunate enough to run my agency from home and take 2 week days off to spend with my daughter.

Motherly advice?

You can never get enough support, we all need that village, however that may look to each family. As we always say at Mummy’s Whispers ‘a happy Parent equals a happy child’. Mostly remember; you are always enough.
