Hi 👋 I am Aline McCarthy, born and raised in Germany. I came to Bondi in 2007, and then moved to Bronte – met my husband, had two kids and never left! Because let’s be honest, life here is pretty spectacular.
After my kids were born I had lots of chronic pain and inflammation in my body, lots of scary procedures, prescription drugs and diagnoses but not many results and so I had to focus on finding answers to my health issues. I found functional medicine and feel great now- and that’s what makes me passionate helping other mums fix their gut and hormones to feel their best. Some call me the poop 💩 whisperer , because a good bowel movement is a great report card for your gut and overall health.

Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east?

I have lived and loved living in Bronte for 15 years

Three words that describe what its like to live in the eastern subs?

Beachy, fun, active

How many children?

2 kids, aged 10 and 13 (growing up too fast!)

Favorite Park?

Centennial Park, I love walking the dog there and so many different spots to explore, bike ride, horse ride, scoot or skate, plus the wild playground

Favourite Beach?

Bronte of course! It has always had my heart, I love the bogey hole.

Bellagio! Great food, a cute dog that wanders around and some toys.

Favourite coffee spot?

The COOP Bronte Beach! Fun vibes and great coffee post morning swims.

Icebergs! I just love the views and food. It is breathtaking, and we can even just do a glass of champagne with some oysters on the balcony , watch th sunset and feel like life is perfect

Where in the east have you yet to explore and would like to go?

probably lots of places! I never get enough of the east.

What would you like to see improve in the eastern suburbs?

more diversity in cultures, fashion, and a bit of “grunge’. Sometimes it is all a bit vanilla and the European in me likes to go to newtown or Melbourne. Maybe bring more Newtown or Melbourne into the East? ☺

Favourite local Shop?

Volange Paris: I always find something there

Favourite wet weather location?

I suppose the ritz cinema or entertainment quarters, there is always something to do

Favourite local family weekend activity?

bike rides in centennial park

Work or SAHM?

I am a functional diagnostic Nutrition practitioner specializing in helping mums 35+ break-free from IBS, heal their gut and have great hormones going through perimenopause/menopause

Motherly advice?

More love and grace for yourself will go a long way in the parenting journey! If we drop expectations and trade it for appreciation we feel much more happy, instantly.
