Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east:
I have lived in the East since I moved to Australia, from Ireland, 16 years ago. The first place I landed was Bondi (of course!). It was a huge change from where I lived back home and I absolutely loved it!
I then moved to Randwick after I met my husband and lived there for 8 years. We recently moved to Mascot and we love it! Such a great sense of community and we have the best neighbours.
How many children:
We have 2 boys Finn (4) and Bodhi (2). The journey to motherhood is tough however I am extremely lucky to have my boys. They are the sweetest, loudest, craziest kids and definitely keep us on our toes.
It would have to be Centennial Park or as I like to call it “the office”. It’s where I hold my Group Training sessions Tuesday – Friday. I also meet some of my Personal Training clients there so I’m there almost every day. Before I start my classes, I often do a jogging lap to prepare myself for the day….not before a coffee of course.
Since moving to Mascot, we go to Maroubra beach a lot. I love the south end because it doesn’t feel like you’re even in Sydney there is so much space. The boys are happy playing in the sand and splashing in the water for hours. Mac Mahon pool is also great for the kids to swim.
Favourite kid friendly cafe:
The Shed Cafe in Randwick has a little play area which was perfect when my boys were smaller. My days of sitting in cafes relaxing with a coffee are well and truly over! It’s now a take away coffee on the way to the park.
Favourite Coffee Spot:
I have tried most of my local coffee shops and Fresh @1 in Mascot is my favourite. The coffee is amazing and the owner Lana is a dietician so the food is super healthy and amazing! Lana and her daughter Olga are always welcoming and super friendly.
Favourite date night place:
We try and have date night at least once a month. We are happy to go anywhere with good red wine and a lively atmosphere…so we can stay awake! We love Italian food so Capannos in Botany is definitely on our date night list. Amazing food and BYO wine so it’s definitely a winner.
Favourite Local Day Out Activity:
Heffron bike track in Maroubra is a great local activity for the boys. They both got new bikes for Christmas so it’s a great place for them to practice.
Favourite wet weather location:
The Supa Centre at Moore Park has a great play centre for kids and it’s free….although we usually end up buying something for the house so it’s not exactly free. Otherwise, Little Dynamos in Alexandria is a wonderful place to let the boys climb and have fun.
Describe an ideal day in Sydney’s eastern suburbs for you?
Breakfast at Trio in Bondi followed by a swim, a walk around Centennial Park and afternoon drinks at Coogee Pavilion rooftop.
What area of the east have you yet to explore much but would like to?
We are still exploring Mascot and surrounds at the moment. We still have lots of places we want eat at in Rosebery and Alexandria. Botany also has some fabulous parks and cafes that we need to explore.

Exercising, even if it’s just 30 minutes a day, can have many benefits. Exercise increases energy, decreases stress levels, improves mood, increases self-esteem and promotes better sleep (just to name a few). Do yoga, go for a walk, take a run, lift weights, or play sports. When I exercise, I have more energy, more patience, and more love for me AND my family.
