I’m a bit over chicken nuggets, a steak and chips each time we go to eat out somewhere “kid friendly” so we thought we’d seek out one of our family’s favourite
foods Japanese!
Tucked away on Anzac Parade in Maroubra Junction is every parents dream Japanese food experience, great food + a small play area for kids.
Kokoroya is a fab Japanese restaurant serving delicious Japanese food at the touch of an iPad. We love the fresh sashimi, braised pork belly, Agadashi Tofu and grilled eggplant. The kids meals start from $6 which include an assortment of finger food so sushi rolls (varying types), jelly cups, edamame, also service is super quick so the kids usually wolf down their food then run off and play in the purpose built play area. It’s not large but it enough for kids to play and be contained so you can enjoy your meal and hopefully a conversation!!
The food is so delicious the touch iPad menu is sometimes too tempting that you keep ordering.
What is really nice is at the end of the meal when you pay they give all the children special balloon shapes, so 10/10 for being nice to kids and putting in the effort to make it a great dining experience for families in the eastern suburbs. They are also open for lunch so playdate or mums groups catch ups would be suitable as well.
