Randwick City residents can collect free native saplings this month through a local giveaway run by IndigiGrow in partnership with Randwick Council.
The La Perouse-based initiative is giving away 3,000 saplings to help protect and restore native plants across the local area. Each household is eligible to receive two free saplings.
A wide range of native species is available, giving residents options for different garden sizes, balconies, courtyards and shaded areas.
The giveaway is part of IndigiGrow’s ongoing work to restore local native flora, including the critically endangered Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub. More than 90 per cent of this important native plant community has been cleared, and local planting efforts can help support its recovery.
Residents who would like to take part need to register their interest before collecting their saplings from IndigiGrow in La Perouse.
Saplings are expected to be popular and may run out quickly.
