From 1 July 2023 Randwick City Council will undertake a trial to waive fees for the use of nominated community centres and halls for eligible local community groups. The trial period will conclude at the end of the 2023-24 financial year, or when the total fees waived reaches $25,000 (whichever occurs first).
This trial is to assist community groups to hire Council’s community spaces for events, meetings and community gatherings.
Information
The waiving of fees for venue hire is:
- For new bookings only, not existing bookings
- Up to the value of $2,500.00 per community group. This can be made up of multiple bookings or one booking only and
- Applicants must meet all standard conditions of hire, including Public Liability and bond
- Activities that are yet to occur (no retrospective funding)
- Small not for profit organisations and sole traders (with annual revenue under $500,000 – based on ACNC definition)

Venues

General Eligibility Criteria
- Located within the boundaries of the Randwick LGA and/or principally servicing Randwick residents
- Annual revenue under $500,000
Eligible organisations
- Not-for-profit organisations
- Community and/or volunteer groups and associations ( mums group )
- Social enterprises
- Individuals and sole traders, engaged in the arts, cultural or creative sector
Exclusions
- State or Federal Government departments
- Schools, TAFEs, colleges and universities (P&C or student associations may apply)
- Political parties
Assessment Criteria
- Benefit to Randwick’s diverse community eg capacity to enhance community connection, arts and culture and social cohesion
- A demonstrated financial need for reduced/waived fees
