Learning to drive is a major milestone for teenagers, but it can also be a daunting experience for parents and carers who are supervising hours behind the wheel. If you’re supporting a learner driver, a free online workshop hosted by Randwick City Council could give you the confidence and practical skills to make the journey safer and less stressful.

Held in partnership with Transport for NSW, the Teaching Learner Drivers Workshop is a 90-minute online session designed for parents, guardians and anyone supervising a learner driver. The workshop is packed with practical advice, helpful strategies and expert guidance to support young drivers as they build confidence and develop safe driving habits.

What You’ll Learn

During the workshop, participants will gain valuable insights into:

  • How to use the NSW Learner Driver Log Book effectively.
  • Planning productive and enjoyable driving practice sessions.
  • Managing common challenges that arise while supervising learner drivers.
  • Providing constructive feedback that helps young drivers improve their skills and confidence.
  • Tips for creating positive driving experiences that encourage safe lifelong habits.

Why Attend?

Research shows that learner drivers benefit greatly from calm, confident supervision and regular practice in a variety of driving conditions. This workshop equips supervising drivers with practical tools to help reduce stress, improve communication and prepare young drivers for the challenges of driving independently.

Whether your teenager has just received their L-plates or is well on the way to completing their log book hours, the workshop offers useful advice for every stage of the learning journey.
