How to Enter?
Write a creative poem, short story or draw an illustration that reflects this year’s festival theme:  ‘Let’s Read, Let’s Celebrate’.

Winners will be announced at the Children’s Story Festival at Waverly Library on 22 October  2023. Writing pieces and artworks will be exhibited in the library on the day of the festival.  

Writing Competition
To enter you must submit a poem or short story of up to 500 words to the theme of ‘Let’s Read, Let’s Celebrate’. You may include these words in your writing if you want to.

Illustration Competition
To enter you must submit an illustration in colour or black and white on an A4 size sheet of paper to the theme of ‘Let’s Read, Let’s Celebrate’.

Entry requirements are as follows:
1.  You may enter both the writing and illustration categories.
2.  An entry form must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian for each entry.
3. Please complete the entry form and attach it to your poem, story or artwork.
4. Hand the two pages to your classroom teacher or librarian.
5. Teachers and librarians, please email to arrange for CBCA NSW  Eastern Suburbs to pick up the entries prior to Thursday, 12 October 2023.

There will be one first prize winner for each category: Kindy, Year 1-2, Year 3-4, Year 5-6 and the judge’s decision on the day is final. Certificates will be awarded for runner up and commended works.
