This summer, the newly opened Darling Quarter’s buzzing dining precinct has partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery to celebrate 100 years of storytelling with a dedicated Warner Bros. 100 Open Air Cinema. The Australian event is the first to kick off a year-long centennial celebration for the iconic and beloved studio that includes free nightly screenings of blockbuster films, family favourites and Oscar®-winning classics across 12th – 29th January, 2023.
Warner Bros. has partnered with the world’s most inspiring storytellers to create a century’s worth of iconic and diverse stories, filled with characters, wondrous worlds, and moments that live in our collective cultural imagination. Warner Bros. 100 Open Air Cinema at Darling Quarter honours where the journey began and rejoices in the legacy that continues to evolve and inspire generations to come.
Everyone is invited to join the fun with screenings for all ages. Opening night (Thursday 12th January) kicks off with The Matrix at 6:00pm, followed by a weekend Harry Potter marathon across 6:00pm and 8:45pm sessions. Superheroes steal the show in week two with the first viewing of new release Black Adam outside of cinemas, plus Wonder Woman, The Dark Knight and more. To celebrate Lunar New Year, a special screening of Crazy Rich Asians will air on Sunday 22nd January. In week three, the family-friendly Space Jam will screen on Australia Day (Thursday 26th January), followed by a line-up of blockbuster films across the weekend including Elvis, The Wizard of Oz and Crazy, Stupid Love.
Exclusive screenings of the new animated series, Secret Origin of the Batwheels will be shown every evening at 5:25pm. Bring the little ones early for some fun Batwheels activities at 5pm before the show starts.
To secure your place for this free event, guests are advised to register online in advance and can reserve free bean bags or picnic rugs. There is space reserved for walk-ins with BYO rugs and chairs. Early arrival is advised for walk-ins as this will be managed on a first come basis and will be closed once capacity is reached.
This summer, Darling Quarter also celebrates the opening of its newly redeveloped dining precinct, complete with 15 restaurants, eateries and al fresco dining overlooking Tumbalong Park. Guests can Click & Collect dinner and snacks to enjoy during the movie from the likes of Dopa, Doodee Noodle, Braza Churrascaria, Ichoume, Vesta Italian, Kürtosh and Gelatissimo, or make a restaurant reservation and dine before or after the show.
Drinks including beer, wine and soft drinks are also available to purchase from a pop-up bar.
