Calling all astronauts: Waverley Park Playground has officially reopened!

Local children dressed in astronaut costumes delighted in Waverley Council’s official reopening this morning of the inclusive Waverley Park Playground, home to Sydney’s newest rocket ship and bespoke launch control play tower. The new playground is the cornerstone of the Waverley Park upgrade project, proudly co-funded by the NSW Government, through the NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program, in association with the Council. The Council received a $1.75 million grant from the Public Spaces Legacy Program to assist in funding Waverley Park upgrades including the new inclusive playground, park lighting upgrades, landscaping and relocation of a fitness station. Free Balance Bike Clinics

Kids start on balance bikes and once confident, can move onto pedal bikes. This is an interactive class designed to get parents involved in their children’s learning. Suitable for children aged 3 to 8 years. Bikes and helmets are provided, or you can bring your own. No need to book, just turn up and register with the instructors at the Sydney Park Cycling Centre. Clinics run every Saturday 9am to 11am except public holidays and during our Christmas break. Safety boost for Sydney beaches – Randwick Council expands summer Lifeguard services

Safety will be stepped up at Sydney’s south-eastern beaches, with Randwick Council expanding its Lifeguard services to Malabar and Little Bay Beaches for the first time this summer. Randwick Mayor Philipa Veitch announced today, Friday 1 December 2023, that Malabar Beach will have a flagged area and two Lifeguards for the summer. Little Bay Beach will also have its own Lifeguard with backup from jet ski water patrols from Malabar. The water patrols will also include the popular beaches around La Perouse – Yarra Bay Beach and Frenchmans Bay Beach. Patrols have not been conducted at Malabar since 2004 and…

Rocket ship touches down at Waverley Park

Waverley Council is thrilled to announce that the “landing” of our new rocket ship at Waverley Park playground successfully took place on Friday 20 October 2023. The excitement began at 10.30am when the rocket ship was delivered on truck to the park, followed by being craned into place alongside a bespoke launch control play tower.
