Looking for something GOOD to do with the kids? A morning of cooking, packing, music and kindness is coming to Woolloomooloo, and your family is invited!
On Sunday 25 October, The Big Give Back will bring families together for Kids Giving Back’s biggest volunteering day of the year. Designed for children aged five and over with an adult, it’s a chance to spend time together, have fun and lend a helping hand to people doing it tough.
And if your kids have never volunteered before, this is a great place to start.
Little hands can make a big difference
As parents, we want our kids to understand kindness and think about others. Volunteering together gives them a chance to put those lessons into action and see what helping someone else can look like.
At The Big Give Back, families will roll up their sleeves to help prepare 3,000+ meals and hundreds of care packs for people in our community who need support.
From getting involved in the kitchen to packing essentials, children can take part in practical activities with a clear purpose. Every meal and care pack is something they’ve helped create for someone else.
With so many people needing a helping hand, it’s a meaningful way to spend a Sunday morning.
Plenty of fun along the way
There’s more to the morning than cooking and packing! Families can explore activity zones, get creative with crafts, enjoy games and stop by the café and bake sale.
DJ Tiny Dancer will be keeping the good vibes going, bringing plenty of energy to a morning filled with giving back.
Bring your friends, gather a few families from school or come along and meet other people who want to do something good together.
New to volunteering? You’re welcome here
You don’t need to have volunteered before or be an expert in the kitchen. The Big Give Back is a welcoming introduction for families who are curious about giving back but haven’t quite known where to begin.
With plenty happening throughout the morning, it’s a fun way for children to try something new, work alongside others and discover how their actions can help someone else.
It’s also an opportunity to start conversations that continue beyond the event: Who are we helping? Why might someone need a meal or a care pack? What else could we do to help?
