Woollahra Council is once again inviting local students to take part in a meaningful community initiative ahead of ANZAC Day 2026. The ANZAC Day Writing Competition is a wonderful opportunity for children and teens in the eastern suburbs to reflect, create and connect with an important part of Australian history.

Open to both primary and high school students, the competition encourages young writers to submit an original story or poem inspired by the ANZAC spirit. It is a chance for kids to explore themes such as courage, sacrifice, mate-ship and community in their own words.

What makes this competition especially powerful is what happens next. Winning entries will be read aloud during the Woollahra ANZAC Day wreath laying ceremony, giving students the rare opportunity to have their voices heard as part of a deeply respected local tradition.

For families, this is more than just a writing competition. It is a meaningful way to help children understand the significance of ANZAC Day while building confidence, creativity and storytelling skills.
