New parents and their little ones are invited to come together for the annual Welcoming the Babies Morning Tea in Kensington this September.
Hosted each spring by Matt Thistlethwaite MP, Federal Member for Kingsford Smith, the morning tea celebrates the newest additions to local families while giving parents an opportunity to meet other families and connect with community organisations, support services and local businesses.
Matt Thistlethwaite is the current federal Member for Kingsford Smith.
This year’s event will take place on Friday 25 September from 10am to 12pm at Kensington Park Community Centre.
A Morning for New Parents and Babies
Having a new baby can be an exciting — and incredibly busy — chapter of family life.
Welcoming the Babies provides a relaxed morning where parents can get out of the house, meet other local families and discover some of the services available to them in the community.
The event is open to parents living within the Kingsford Smith electorate, with children up to two years of age able to be registered.
Certificates and Gift Bags for the Little Ones
During the morning, Matt Thistlethwaite will present participating newborns and their parents with certificates and gift bags to mark the occasion.
There will also be lucky door prizes on offer throughout the event.
It’s a lovely opportunity to celebrate your family’s newest arrival — and perhaps meet some other parents with babies and toddlers of a similar age at the same time.
Discover Local Family Services
The morning isn’t only about celebrating the babies.
A range of local community groups and businesses will also attend, providing information about services that may be useful to new parents and young families.
For first-time parents in particular, it can be difficult to know what support, activities and services are available locally. The morning tea brings a number of these organisations together in one place, making it easier to make connections and find out what’s available.
Who Can Attend?
Parents within the Kingsford Smith electorate are welcome to attend, and children can be registered up to the age of two.
The event is being held at Kensington Park Community Centre, making it particularly convenient for families from Kensington and surrounding suburbs.
