A Step Closer to a Stunning Coastal Walkway: Coogee to Maroubra

Randwick City Council is making strides towards creating a new public walkway connecting South Coogee and Lurline Bay, with the recent purchase of a $4.9 million property on Cuzco Street. This long-anticipated development brings the vision of a continuous coastal walkway closer to reality. Bridging the Gap Currently, walkers traveling between Coogee and Maroubra must detour inland to Malabar Road. In October 2024, an unusual discovery along Sydney’s coastline temporarily closed some of the Eastern Suburbs’ most popular beaches. Thousands of mysterious ball-shaped pieces of debris began washing ashore, prompting Coogee, Clovelly, Maroubra, Malabar and Gordons Bay to be closed while authorities investigated and clean-up operations took place. New staircase for South Coogee rockpool

A new staircase to the Ivo Rowe Rockpool, nestled in South Coogee along the Coastal Walkway, is almost complete. The new staircase has been constructed to improve safety and accessibility to the rockpool located at 1R Bunya Parade, South Coogee. It replaces a concrete, rocky pathway, and is constructed of fibre reinforced polymer minimesh and stainless steel to protect it from the harsh coastal elements. Design and construction of the new staircase began mid-2024. Randwick Council is planning to upgrade the public amenities, bus shelter and kiosk at Goldstein Reserve on Arden Street, Coogee Beach. Maintenance works start for Coogee beachside parkland

Goldstein Reserve, adjacent to Coogee Beach, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs is set for an upgrade, with a range of works to improve pedestrian access, facilities for beach users, and drainage, starting this week. Works will include the installation of new showers at the northern end of the parkland, a new stormwater grate and paving, as well as 800 square metres of new turf to cover bare areas near the kiosk.
