Next summer will be made all the more sweet with a new and improved splash park right here in Randwick City. Construction kicks off on Monday 8 May to create a new place for kids to play at the Des Renford Leisure Centre (DRLC).
“We are excited to transform the current toddler pool area into a new place for family fun and adventure for the children of our community,” said Mayor Dylan Parker.
This $1.5M project comes as part of Council’s continued effort to deliver upgraded open space facilities to its residents.
The colourful new splash park will delight young children and become a popular space for family fun. It will include in-ground and above-ground structures such as:
- Slides
- Water sprays
- Spiral tunnel
- Fun-brella
- Sneaky soaker
- Surf cannon
- Surfboard
- Dump bucket
Designed with sustainability in mind, the new park will use a water circulation system that prioritises water conservation. The new system will recycle and reuse water, allowing up to 95% of used water to be recovered.
The design also includes new landscaping and new seating areas for parents and carers to supervise their children.
Construction will begin next week and is scheduled to be complete in late September 2023.
