If your kids have ever dreamed of running away with the circus — or simply love climbing, balancing, performing and trying something new — South Eveleigh is bringing a little circus magic to the spring school holidays.

On Thursday 8 and Friday 9 October, kids can step into the spotlight at a series of hands-on Circus Workshops on Locomotive Street.

From little acrobats to future ringmasters, the workshops give children the chance to learn circus skills, challenge their balance and coordination and discover their inner performer.

And at just $5 per ticket — with every attendee receiving a $10 gift voucher from The Grounds — this is a school holiday activity that’s well worth adding to the calendar.

Step Into the Circus

Circus skills have a wonderful way of combining exercise with play.

Rather than simply watching a performance, children will be the performers at these interactive sessions.

They’ll have an opportunity to test their coordination and balance, learn new circus skills and have a go at activities that might be completely different from anything they’ve tried before.

It’s active, creative and, most importantly, designed to be fun.

For kids who love gymnastics, dance or performing, it could be right up their alley. But it’s equally suitable for children who simply enjoy experimenting with something new.

Three Workshops Each Day

The Circus Workshops will take place across Thursday 8 and Friday 9 October, with three 30-minute sessions available each day:

10am–10.30am
11am–11.30am
12pm–12.30pm

Sessions will be held on Locomotive Street, in front of Anita Gelato at South Eveleigh.

Each workshop has capacity for just 25 participants, so booking ahead is a good idea.

Walk-ins will also be welcomed on the day, but only if spaces remain.

$5 Ticket – Plus a $10 Gift Voucher

Here’s a nice little bonus for parents.

Tickets cost $5 per attendee, and everyone attending receives a $10 gift voucher from The Grounds.

That makes it easy to turn the workshop into a longer school holiday outing. Let the kids burn some energy at the circus session and then stick around for something to eat or drink afterwards.

Make a Morning of South Eveleigh

If you haven’t explored South Eveleigh with the kids before, the school holidays are a good opportunity.

The precinct combines its railway and industrial heritage with public spaces, cafés, restaurants and plenty of places to wander.

With each circus workshop lasting around 30 minutes, there’s enough time to enjoy the activity without committing the entire day.

Book one of the morning sessions, explore South Eveleigh afterwards and perhaps finish with lunch or a treat.

And with two hours of free parking available at the 2 Central Avenue car park, getting there with kids is a little easier too.

Why We Like This One for the School Holidays

The best school holiday activities don’t always need to be enormous day-long adventures.

Sometimes a short activity that gets kids moving, laughing and trying something they’ve never done before is exactly what’s needed.

Circus activities can encourage balance, coordination, concentration and confidence, while giving children plenty of opportunity to be creative and a little bit silly at the same time.

They might not leave ready to join the circus just yet — but don’t be surprised if you find them practising their new skills at home for the rest of the holidays.

So if you’ve got a little acrobat, juggler, performer or would-be ringmaster at home, add South Eveleigh’s Circus Workshops to your spring school holiday plans.

Thirty minutes of circus fun, a $10 Grounds voucher and hopefully some very tired little performers afterwards — sounds pretty good to us!
