2022 marks the 250th anniversary of the first French visit to Australian shores. This exhibition explores the people who led those voyages and their achievements and legacies. You might encounter one or two surprising anecdotes along the way French Explorers – Voyages to Australia introduces some of the great 18th century French adventurers who visited these shores. Through rare objects, stunning contemporary art, costumes, a dynamic digital map, and even a creaking ship cabin, this show chronicles the personalities of the men – and women! – who played a major part in the strong ongoing connection between France and Australia….
