Each week we meet a local mum and hear about her life and tips for living in the eastern suburbs, this week we meet Mascot mum, Jessica and her mum Elizabeth who are business partners in a great business called Yummster.
Jessica
Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east:
I’ve lived in the East for 15years mainly in Eastlakes, Kingsford and Mascot.
How many children:
One cheeky little boy of 22 months.
Favourite Park:
Lionel Bowen Park (Coward St with O’riordan St Mascot); there’s plenty to do at this park. Lots of recreational equipment for children, a sand pit, a BBQ
area and lots of green space to run and play.
Favourite Beach:
Bronte Beach, we love watching all the different groups of people that gather to carry on their cool activities; we also love the vibe at the beach in
general.
Favourite kid friendly cafe:
The Grounds of Alexandria; got to love the farm animals; it makes it entertaining for the kiddies.
Favourite Coffee Spot:
Sugar Baby in Bourke St, next to Mascot Station; they offer different coffee selections every week and their breakfast meals are
quite generous and well-priced.
Favourite date night place:
We haven’t had many date nights since Jacob was born but we like going out for dinner as a family on Friday or Saturday nights; We love the sushi from
Sushi Suma in Surry Hills or the pizza from Criniti’s in Darling Harbour.
Favourite Mother’s Group Location:
I went back to work when Jacob just turned 7 months and we did a bit of travelling before that, so I never attended one. But our local park has been a
great place to chat and meet other mums.
Favourite wet weather location:
Home. We love playing with car toys, especially trains these days and watching kids’ movies with talking animals in them.
Favourite Local Shop:
Kas Australia Factory Outlet; I love their designs and the low prices on linen and cushions.
Work or SAHM:
Both are fine; I do wish I had more time at home to work on my businesses and to be more hands on at home but at this stage it is not an option. My husband
supports me and my busy life; He takes charge when I’m busy. We are a good team. I am a Project Manager working full time and I currently run two businesses:

Motherly advice:
For busy mums like me, laugh at all the mess and silliness around you. Don’t go crazy on chores; quality time with your little one is better than quantity.

Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east:
I’ve always lived in Eastlakes.
How many children:
One lovely daughter, a handsome son and a cute grandson that I love with all my heart.
Favourite Park:
L’Estrange Park; I love going there for walks and to watch the occasional football matches at the local soccer field.
Favourite Beach:
La Perouse, nothing beats drinking coffee while watching a sunset at the beach and La Perouse is the perfect place for this.
Favourite kid friendly cafe:
Christopher’s Cake Shop in Mascot for all the varieties and choices of cakes and sweets.
Favourite Coffee Spot:
Mr Espresso in Mascot (Botany Rd with King St); good coffee and friendly vibe.
Favourite date night place:
The Grounds of Alexandria; they have a couple of idyllic and chic restaurants/bars, perfect for having a chat and a drink after a long week.
Favourite Mother’s Group Location:
I have never been to one.
Favourite wet weather location:
Home. We love cooking and watching movies on rainy days.
Favourite Local Shop:
Rockmans in Eastlakes Shopping Mall, I like their customer service; I go there for a browse twice a week which allows me to take advantage of offers and
discounts at first hand.
Work or SAHM:
Work. I’ve started working from the age of 14 and I have never stopped since. It makes me feel included in the community.
Motherly advice:
Make sure that you take on a hobby of your own. Whether you get to sell to others or just to do it for fun, it takes the stress away and it takes you away
from your daily routine.
