Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east: I moved from London to Sydney with my husband almost 7 years ago. Our first rented apartment was in Surry Hills and (aside from a short stint with the in-laws while we were saving to buy our place) we haven’t left!
How many children: Holly, 4, and Charlie, 1
Favourite Park: Centennial Park – it’s the most beautiful place, I spend half my life there. In terms of a play park for the kids, the Newmarket playground in Randwick is hard to beat.
Favourite Beach: Maroubra, the south end
Favourite kid friendly cafe: 169 café in Randwick – the outside space and toys means you have an outside chance of a chat and something hot to eat while they play!
Favourite Coffee Spot: Pieno, Surry Hills. I often go and sit in their beautiful leafy courtyard to work for a few hours, and the brekkie is amazing.
Favourite date night place: We love heading for dumplings in the city or a pub crawl in Redfern.
Favourite Local Day Out Activity: Darling Harbour – the water park is endless funand never gets old. The Chinese Garden of Friendship is always a hit, too.
Favourite Local Shop: I’m really not much of a shopper…unless it’s a camera shop!
Favourite wet weather location: Nubo in Alexandria, or watching a movie in Bondi!
Describe an ideal day in Sydney’s eastern suburbs for you? Sunshine, coffee, a coastal walk, and fish & chips from JP McCaffrey’s in Coogee. Heaven
What area of the east have you yet to explore much but would like to? Maroubra headland – I’ve been meaning to go for ages. I recently did the coastal walk from Malabar to La Perouse and it was absolutely stunning.
Work or SAHM: Work. Last year I decided to leave my corporate job (I was a solicitor for 12 years) and pursue my photography side hustle properly. So far, absolutely no regrets. It’s the best job in the world.
