Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf

Participate in a giant House Plant Takeover of Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf with Woollahra Artist in Residence, Penelope Cain.

As part of the House Plant Takeover, Woollahra Artist In Residence Penelope Cain, invites the community of Woollahra to bring in their houseplants and partake in a temporary ‘takeover’ of the gallery during the period 11-13 Feb.

Through this we will reveal houseplants from the domestically private sites they normally inhabit, and celebrate people’s relationships with houseplants in this shared community space.
Across the last 18 months people have spent more time than ever at home with their plants, and these houseplants were sometimes the nearest companions and primary source of daily interaction.
Across the weekend in the gallery Penelope Cain will photographically document the plants and collect oral stories about the plants from their owners, highlighting these human-plant relationships.
