Waverley Council is excited to announce upgrades along sections of the Clifftop Walkway in Dover Heights and Vaucluse, enhancing safety and enjoyment for all. Construction on the Diamond Bay boardwalk is now complete, and this section is once again open to the public.

Work is ongoing along the Eastern Reserve boardwalk, with completion expected in late summer 2025. This timeline accounts for required stabilization, stormwater works at Oceanview Ave and George St, and potential weather delays.

We appreciate the community’s patience throughout these improvements. Here’s what the Clifftop Walkway Upgrade includes:

  • Enhanced Viewing Areas: New decks, stairs, balustrades, and handrails for improved accessibility and structure durability.
  • Lookout Spaces: Key lookout points with seating, signage, and viewing platforms to take in the stunning coastal vistas.
  • Upgraded Entries: Main entryways at Lancaster Road, Bulga Road, Oceanview Avenue, and Kimberley Street now feature directional signage, seating, bins, and water bubblers for visitor convenience.
  • Safety Enhancements: Coastal fencing and road barriers at the Kimberley St entrance, and stormwater upgrades along George St to protect the clifftop environment.
  • New Staircases: Added stairways in Eastern Reserve to improve access and safety.
  • Biodiversity Initiatives: Protection and growth of indigenous vegetation to strengthen the coastal biodiversity corridor.

Former Waverley Mayor Paula Masselos remarked that the Clifftop Walkway’s upgrades will improve safety for millions of visitors and residents, with materials designed to withstand the coastal conditions.

Thank you for your patience as we work to complete these enhancements by early 2025, weather permitting.
