Cheer, run or stroll — the Eastern Suburbs turns on the energy this August! There’s nothing quite like City2Surf day in the Eastern Suburbs. Whether you’re running in it, walking with friends, or standing on the sidelines with homemade signs and snacks, it’s a day that brings our local streets to life with colour, community spirit and celebration. From families in fancy dress to seasoned runners chasing a personal best, Sunday, 11 August 2025 will be one of the most joyful (and energetic!) days of the year.

The Voltaren City2Surf has long been a favourite on the calendar for Eastern Suburbs families. With the finish line at Bondi Beach, it’s not just a race — it’s a rolling street party. Music blares, kids hand out high fives, and the cheers echo through the neighbourhoods as thousands make their way to the sand.

The 14km course begins in the Sydney CBD at Park Street and College Street, sending runners downhill on William Street and through the Kings Cross Tunnel. From there, the route winds through Rushcutters Bay and Rose Bay along New South Head Road before hitting the infamous Heartbreak Hill — presented by AIA — the halfway point and one of the most scenic spots on the course.

After powering up the hill, participants turn through Vaucluse onto Old South Head Road, then Military Road, with breathtaking ocean views all the way down to Bondi. The final stretch leads onto Queen Elizabeth Drive, where finishers are greeted with cheers, a Finisher’s Medal, and that iconic view of the beach.

Don’t forget to stop by the Event Village at Bondi to stretch, recover, grab a bite, and take a victory selfie!

Local tip: Road closures will be in place across much of the Eastern Suburbs, especially around Bondi, Rose Bay, and Vaucluse, from early morning until mid-afternoon. Plan your travel ahead and expect detours.

Whether you’re running, walking, dancing along the sidelines or hosting a front yard cheer squad — City2Surf is a celebration of movement, community, and Sydney at its best.

When can I start running again?
