The Children’s International Film Festival (CHIFF) kicks off THIS SATURDAY in Melbourne and next Saturday in Sydney, offering a month-long celebration of cinema for young audiences and their families.

Running throughout the school holidays, CHIFF features 18 Australian premiere titles, family short films, and special events for kids aged 3 and up.

This year, CHIFF welcomes renowned Australian artist and author Leigh Hobbs as its special guest! Known for his beloved characters like Old Tom and Horrible Harriet, Leigh was the Australian Children’s Laureate in 2016 and 2017. Don’t miss the screening of his short film Mr Chicken Goes to Mars, followed by a Q&A with Leigh and filmmaker Katrina Mathers.

The 2024 line-up includes films in English and various foreign languages with English subtitles. Highlights include Disney+Pixar’s Inside Out 2 on Family Fun Day and the enchanting Sirocco and the Kingdom of the Winds, available in both English dub and French.

CHIFF 2024 also features films inspired by beloved books, such as A Cat’s Life, A Greyhound of a Girl by Roddy Doyle, and Christmas on Cobbler Street. Audiences will be thrilled by Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia, the sequel to the award-winning 2012 film.

For stunning animations that appeal to all ages, check out Kensuke’s Kingdom, with voices by Cillian Murphy, Sally Hawkins, and Ken Watanabe, and the acclaimed Chicken for Linda!

Beyond the screen, CHIFF encourages dress-ups and face-painting fun! Enjoy feline face-painting before A Cat’s Life, Halloween vibes with My Freaky Family, and superhero costumes for Just Super.
