🌳 Rudi’s Top 5 Tips for Tree Planting (Kid-Friendly and Easy to Remember!)
Bushcare expert Rudi Adlmayer, who’s planted thousands of trees in the area, shares his top tips to help your little seedlings thrive:
-
Pick the Right Plant: Native species like banksias are great for attracting birds and are well-suited to local conditions.
-
Choose a Good Spot: Think about sunlight, soil type, and how exposed the area is to wind.
-
Plant Smart: Dig a hole slightly deeper than the pot and plant a little below the surface to help water soak in.
-
Mulch & Water: Cover with mulch and water weekly for a few months—unless we get good rain.
-
Watch for Weeds: Keep the area around the seedling clear so it doesn’t get smothered.
🌿 Get outside, learn something new, and leave behind a greener Woollahra for future generations.
This is more than a Sunday stroll—it’s a way to grow your child’s understanding of nature, and maybe even spark a lifelong passion for the planet.
