Rosebery’s The Cannery Markets is to be relaunched with a fresh and vibrant new direction.
The fresh start comes as Cambridge Markets takes over management of the monthly event, which is held inside The Cannery building on Mentmore Avenue, Rosebery.
The market will have an increased focus on high-quality local NSW makers, creators, and artists as the change of management sees Cambridge Markets tap into its extensive network of small and micro businesses from around Sydney.
Cambridge Markets’ first market at The Cannery will be on the weekend of May 6 and 7, 2023, from 9am-3pm, and the first Saturday and Sunday of every month thereafter.
“It is exciting to be bringing this market to life in Rosebery,” said Cambridge Markets’ director Rebecca Fox. “This is already a popular established market but we are determined to bring a new energy to the space, as we introduce our much-loved stallholders to this new location for us.
“We are really pleased to be presenting a wide range of existing and new stalls at this venue. The Cannery is a fantastic, warehouse style space with a great mix of existing tenants such as Aldi Cornerstore, Wholefoods House, Three Blue Ducks, Archie Rose, Messina and more. It also has the advantage of being indoors so totally weatherproof and functional in all conditions.
“Shoppers can expect a range of excellent small businesses to trade at this market, across fashion, homewares, art, craft, jewellery, photography, pet goods, toys, clothes and things for kids, gifting, candles and plenty more. Some of our favourite gourmet and global hot food stalls will also be there, complementing the already fantastic lineup of cafes and restaurants at The Cannery. We are finding that shoppers and food lovers are very drawn to our global food stalls, which add such a vibe to every event we produce.”
Stallholders appearing at the May 6-7 market include Hudons Bakery (gluten-free artisan bakery products), Shadow Baking (bespoke pastries made exclusively for the CanneryMarkets), Mr and Mrs Pancakes (mini Dutch-style vegan pancakes), Turkish Gozleme House (Turkish cuisine), Tart by Ursula (quiches and sweet tarts), Aroma Herbs (herbs), 4Evaeco (plastic-free eco homewares and more), Hako Tabi (matcha), B Positive (3D pop-up cards), Hohm Interiors (furniture items and homewares), My Favourite Apron Co (aprons and kitchenware), Wrappsody (gorgeous wrapping paper) and Rawpaw Treats (Australian-made natural dog treats).
Fox said the Rosebery area was ideal for a market of this nature, with demand from local residents for weekend activities. The Cannery is within close proximity to a large number of high-rise apartments and high-density living, with the market providing a community space for residents and visitors to come together to meet, shop, eat and socialise.
“One of the brilliant things about markets is how they bring people together in one cohesive space,” Fox said. “This is a great place for locals to come together. It’s a beautiful indoor space with a great offer, plenty of seating and a really great atmosphere. It’s just a lovely place to be and the market will truly activate the hub each time it is on.
“Markets also help bring a lively trade to existing retailers and hospitality outfits and we expect this market to have a great impact on local traders. Along with live music to add to the vibe”
The Cannery Markets joins Cambridge Markets’ extensive network of weekly, monthly and occasional events across Sydney, including Cambridge Markets EQ, Wentworth Point Markets, Ryde Wharf Markets and seasonal markets across the city.
“We love bringing our incredible mix of stalls to new locations across Sydney,” Fox said. “The Cannery is a perfect fit for the Cambridge Markets’ ethos of introducing up-and-coming and artisan makers and creators to local shoppers.”
