With spring just around the corner, now is the perfect time to dust off the kids’ bikes and get the whole family ready to ride again.
Got a kids’ bike sitting in the garage with flat tyres, dodgy brakes, a slipping chain or something that just doesn’t seem quite right? Before you give up on it, bring it along to the Randwick Sustainability Hub for a FREE bike check and tune.
Skilled bike mechanics will be on hand to give bikes a basic service and answer your bike maintenance questions as part of Randwick City Council’s monthly Saturday Circle.
Get the Kids Back on Their Bikes for Spring
After sitting unused over winter, kids’ bikes may need a little attention before they’re ready to hit the footpaths, parks and bike tracks again.
Each 15-minute free session gives you the chance to have a mechanic check the bike, give it a basic tune and identify anything that might need further attention.
It’s a great opportunity to rescue that forgotten or slightly broken bike from the garage and get the kids outdoors, active and back on two wheels this spring.
When: Saturday 12 September, 10am–12pm
Where: Randwick Sustainability Hub, 27 Munda Street, Randwick
Cost: FREE
Bookings: 15-minute bike check and tune sessions
Make Spring the Season for Family Bike Rides
Once the bikes are ready to go, why not make cycling part of your family’s spring weekends? Whether it’s helping younger kids build their confidence or heading out together for a family ride, cycling is a fun way to get everyone outdoors and moving.
The bike maintenance sessions are part of The Saturday Circle, Randwick City Council’s monthly community get-together focused on repairing, sharing, reusing and building local resilience.
The Saturday Circle is held at the Randwick Sustainability Hub on the second Saturday of each month.
Can’t make the Randwick session? Bike maintenance sessions are also available at Maroubra Beach Markets on the first Saturday of the month.
So, before that old kids’ bike gets forgotten at the back of the garage, give it another chance. A quick check and tune could be just what it needs to get your little rider back in the saddle for spring.
