Maroubra Beach will come alive this Sunday, 19 July, as Beach Breaks returns for a full day of free entertainment, surfing action and family-friendly activities celebrating the unique surf culture that has made Maroubra one of Australia’s most iconic beaches.
Held along the Maroubra Beach Promenade (near the corner of McKeon Street and Marine Parade) and McKeon Street Plaza, the free community event brings together live music, local food vendors, market stalls, surfing competitions and children’s activities in one of Sydney’s most picturesque beachside settings.
Celebrating Maroubra’s Surfing Heritage
Beach Breaks shines a spotlight on Maroubra’s proud surfing history and the strong community spirit that continues to define the beach today.
One of the highlights of the afternoon will be the Australian Surfing Walk of Fame presentation, recognising individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to Australian surfing.
Surf fans can also enjoy the inaugural Surfing Southern Beaches Storm Teams Challenge, featuring some of Sydney’s best boardrider clubs competing for local bragging rights.

- Bronte Boardriders
- Coogee Boardriders
- North Maroubra Surf Riders
- Maroubra Surfers Association
- Southend Boardriders
The winning team will be announced during the afternoon festivities.

Community information stalls, including Randwick City Council’s Disability Inclusion team and Des Renford Leisure Centre, will also be part of the event.
