Get ready to dust off your winter coats, scarves and Christmas jumpers because Sydney’s much-loved Christmas in July Festival is returning to The Rocks from 10–19 July 2026.
Following the huge success of last year’s event, the free-entry festival will once again transform Sydney’s historic precinct into a magical European-style winter wonderland, complete with snowfalls, twinkling fairy lights, festive entertainment, artisan markets and delicious winter treats.
For ten enchanting nights, visitors can experience the charm of a traditional European Christmas market without leaving Sydney. The cobblestone laneways and sandstone buildings of The Rocks will be illuminated by kilometres of fairy lights, creating the perfect backdrop for a cosy winter outing with family and friends.
More than 30 market vendors will fill the precinct with artisan gifts, handmade crafts and festive goodies. Inspired by the famous Christmas markets of Germany, France and the Alpine regions, beautifully decorated wooden chalets will line the streets, offering unique shopping experiences and seasonal delights.
One of the festival’s most popular attractions, Snow Lane, will return to historic Kendall Lane, where visitors can enjoy magical snowfall beneath glowing lights. The festival will also feature warming winter favourites including mulled wine, melted raclette cheese, fondue experiences, rich hot chocolates, indulgent desserts and cosy fire pit areas.
Festival founder Vincent Hernandez says the event was created to bring the atmosphere of Europe’s iconic winter markets to Sydney.
“There’s something incredibly special about walking through glowing wooden chalets, drinking mulled wine beneath fairy lights, watching snow fall in The Rocks and sharing melted cheese with friends and family. People genuinely embrace the experience and make it part of their winter traditions,” he said.
The Christmas in July Festival has quickly become one of Sydney’s favourite winter events, attracting thousands of visitors who come to enjoy the festive atmosphere, live music, artisan shopping and delicious food offerings.
With free entry and activities suitable for all ages, the festival offers the perfect opportunity to embrace the magic of winter while creating special memories with loved ones.
