This week we’re chatting with Carli Skurnik, a long-time Eastern Suburbs local and mum of two boys, aged 11 and 13. Carli has called the East home since 1998 and now lives in beautiful Bellevue Hill, where she juggles family life with running her own business, One Buyers Agency.
From coffee at Shuk in North Bondi to beach days at Bondi and lazy movie afternoons when it’s raining, Carli shares what she loves most about life in the East, her favourite local spots, and some honest reflections on the realities of being a working mum.

Where and how long have you lived in Sydney’s east?
I have lived all around the East since 1998, and I am currently living in Bellevue Hill. It is a beautiful suburb that I feel lucky to call home.
Three words that describe what it’s like to live in the eastern suburbs?
Everyone knows Everyone!
How many children?
I have 2 beautiful boys – they are 11 and 13 years old.
Favourite Park?
My favourite park is Lyne Park in Rose Bay – But my boys would say it’s a park in Alexandria
Favourite Beach?
You can’t beat Bondi Beach of course -it’s iconic for a reason!
Favourite kids friendly cafe?
Shuk – North Bondi. I love the outdoor space and the food and coffee is always delicious.
Favourite Coffee Spot?
Both Blip and Tucker in Bellevue Hill do amazing coffee and warm service.
Favourite date night place?
It’s definitely too hard to choose. We love exploring different restaurants and cuisines around the East, always preferring to give a new place a go.
Where in the east have you yet to explore and would like to go?
As a buyers agent, I have explored every corner of the East, and feel like I know it inside out. I would love to spend more time exploring different beaches in the area. We have such an abundance of beaches, but not enough time to visit them all!
What would you like to see improve in the eastern suburbs?
I think the Eastern Suburbs is wonderful for quiet evenings spent outdoors however, I would love to see venues staying open later and more of an evening buzz / night life
Favourite Local Shop?
Nava by Star Showroom. They have beautiful, quality pieces that are timeless and easy to wear!
Favourite wet weather location?
I love to stay home while it’s raining – rugged up and watching our favourite family movies.
Favourite Local family Weekend Activity?
In summer, the family and I love to spend the day in Bondi Beach and surrounds. In Winter, we love a visit to Bondi Westfield for shopping, movies and more.

Motherly advice?
There are way too many pieces of advice I could give, but as a working mother, we all know that the guilt never stops. You feel guilty for not being there for your kids, and being at work, and you feel guilty for being away from work when it is family time. However, I have realised that if you have the right team behind you, business carries on, and your kids are so proud of the role model you are for them.
