200 of Australia’s best independent designers

At The Big Design Market, our passion for discovery and innovation continues to drive us. This year, we’re thrilled to introduce a fresh wave of creative talent, welcoming an exciting array of new brands to our lineup. Discover the enchanting world of Mornington Peninsula painter and textile designer Emma Morgan, whose Australian-made homewares celebrate the curious forms

found within nature. Immerse yourself in sustainable living redefined by Isekai Studio, with their eco-friendly, 3D-printed homewares that are not only beautiful but also good for the planet.

Experience the perfect blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern innovation with Marlo Woodwork, known for their exquisitely crafted wooden pieces that elevate any space. Explore the unique and artistic world of Zipei, offering contemporary handcrafted jewellery from Melbourne with an emphasis on sculptural design. Dress your little ones in the enchanting, vintage-inspired children’s wear from Dukes, perfect for adding a touch of nostalgia to their everyday adventures. Immerse yourself in the unique fragrances of Australia’s landscapes with Mihan Aromatics, and meet Gem The Label, an Australian label dedicated to sustainability and slow fashion. Each piece is mindfully made to order, ensuring both personalisation and environmental care.

We are also honoured to showcase the remarkable Indigenous brand, Bush Medijina, this year. Hailing from Angurugu, a small community on Groote Eylandt in the far north of the Northern Territory, Bush Medijina is a collective of women who craft rejuvenating body products infused

with foraged native botanicals, honouring traditions and processes passed down through generations. This brand embodies the spirit of creativity, heritage, and innovation that The Big Design Market celebrates, offering a unique glimpse into the rich cultural landscape of Indigenous Australia.

MULGANAI

The Big Design Market is thrilled to have the talented Emma Hollingsworth with her brand Mulganai on board for this year’s event. Emma will be infusing it with her stunning, vibrant and contemporary Aboriginal art. As a Kaanju, Kuku Ya’u, Girramay woman who grew up in tropical far north Queensland, her works speak to her heritage, culture, and her own story, painting with vivid colours as a reflection of her youthfulness and the way she sees the world. “I paint about the Land and waterways, the animals, the peoples, our traditions, and I paint about how all of those things are intrinsically connected.” Visitors will have the pleasure of being immersed in Emma’s beautiful designs with a major installation of her work hanging throughout Carriageworks.

Just for kids

We’ve got a thrilling surprise in store for little ones with a dedicated kids area designed by Emma Hollingsworth of Mulganai, complete with a 12m long artwork across the back for a dreamy and immersive environment designed to encourage imagination and creativity. Children of all ages are

welcome to take a pause for some engaging downtime with colouring-in cut-outs of Emma’s animal totem, the turtle.

The food, the wine and everything in between

Not to be overlooked is the exciting lineup of exceptional culinary delights, including a number of iconic Victorian tastemakers who will be road-tripping up and coming together with Sydney’s best to create a mouthwatering feast for shoppers.

From Melbourne, savour drool-worthy Italian dishes from That’s Amore Cheese, heavenly natural ice cream from Billy Van Creamy, and the best brews around from coffee wizards St. Ali. Experience organic craft spirits, aperitivos, and cocktails from Heathcote Gin, and delight in top-shelf vino from Pizzini Wines. Don’t miss the handcrafted, gourmet pies from Wonder Pies, and the best Portuguese tarts this side of the globe from Casa Nata. Plus discover a number of gems creating take home items like Mount Zero Olives, Ricci’s Bikkies, Naked Asian Grocer, and Acide, along with Tasmania’s Hobart Whiskey and South Australia’s Misty’s Salted Caramel.

There’ll also be Sydney’s authentic Vietnamese soul food from Bar Pho, artisan NYC bagels from Brooklyn Boy Bagels, and satisfy your sweet tooth with delicious hot apple crumble from Cheeky Crumbles.
