Coastal Fave, By Billie, Launches New Mexico Inspired AW23 Collection, Loco Feliz.
After a string of successful collection launches, coastal-based mother’s and children’s brand, By Billie, launches a dreamy new Autumn Winter collection entitled, Loco Feliz. Meaning ‘Crazy Happy’ in Spanish, the collection is an ode to playful dressing, bringing back fun and creativity into the everyday kids and adults wardrobe.
Drawing on inspiration from the aesthetic and bold colours and textures of Mexico, the collection is designed to be mixed and matched, played in and lived in. Launching in May 2023, the vibrant collection is another step in a new direction for the formally minimalist brand.
“Over the last couple of years we’ve had fun moving away from a neutral, minimalist brand to experimenting with pieces where kids and adults are able to express themselves more with colour, texture and print,” said By Billie’s Creative Director and Founder, Charlotte Brodie.
The Loco Feliz collection utilises a majority of organic cotton, canvas cotton and cotton yarn. Natural fibres have been prioritised as fabrication of this collection as these are less harmful to the planet, last longer and feel nicer on the skin. The collection features a mix of earthy tones and bright colours which aligns with the colours and textures of Mexico that inspired the collection.
“We were so inspired by the abundant colourful and vibrant culture in Mexico and really wanted to create something that was very expressive and fun. We also had the absolute pleasure to shoot the campaign in Mexico, to really do the collection justice. A personal favourite piece of mine would have to be the La Raya overalls in Verde. I love the hand-drawn look of the stripes plus you just can’t go wrong with an overall.”
Having started By Billie in 2017 as a creative outlet when she was in the throes of motherhood and adjusting to a new coastal lifestyle in NSW, Creative Director and Founder, Charlotte Brodie has grown the brand to a cult following. With three major collections per year and smaller drops throughout, the brands easy to style basics and stand out pieces tend to sell out every time.
